Posted at 10:39am on May 27, 2008 Sean Parnell: Even or Ahead of Don Young in AK Polling

By Erick

While RedState was not mentioned, Alaska Lt. Governor Sean Parnell gets a lot of coverage in CQ Politics today.

Democrats have been salivating over the opportunity to unseat Republican Rep. Don Young as he seeks an 18th full-term as Alaska’s lone House representative, but Republicans may beat them to the punch.

Republican Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell stands a strong chance of defeating Young in the party’s Aug. 26 primary, according to recent polls and analysts, which would provide Democrats with a new opponent for the general election.

Sean Parnell is polling even with or above Don Young in the latest polls from the state.

The additional beauty of this is that the Democrats are expecting to run against Don Young. A Parnell victory will throw them for a loop.

You can contribute to Sean Parnell here.

Posted at 8:44am on May 19, 2008 Shut up and save the GOP

By Erick

At some point today you are going to spend $10.00 to grow your waist line.

You know it and I know it.

Whether it is the Quarter Pounder Meal, value sized, or the Caramel Mocha Skinny Latte with the cinnamon on top and the cinnamon roll at Starbucks, or a combination of the two with something from the vending machine, you're going to waist $10.00 on empty calories.

You're also going to cuss about the incompetence of the GOP.

David Freddoso has an article at NRO about Sean Parnell, the Lt. Governor of Alaska running against Don Young in the Republican Primary.

Instead of consuming empty calories and bitching about the GOP today, why don't you shut up and do something about it?

Let's face it: we can complain all day about the GOP. But if we're not willing to put our money where our mouth is, we might as well just shut up.

I've given Sean $100.00. How much will you give? Make your minimum donation $10.00.

If you don't trust the series of tubes we call the internet or you want to give less than $10.00 (wimp), mail a check to Parnell for Congress, P.O. Box 100719, Anchorage, AK 99510.

By Erick

Just $10.00*. That's what's needed.

RedState endorsed Sean Parnell in his bid to unseat Don Young.

But it's going to take money to do it. Don Young has been milking gobs of money from every dirty person he can.

Sean Parnell needs our help.

$10.00, people. $10.00 to beat Don Young.

Give up that trip to Starbuck. Give the cost of your double carmel latte and pumpkin spice cookie to Sean Parnell. Give up that trip to McDonalds. Give the cost of your quarter pounder value meal value sized and chocolate chip cooke three pack to Sean Parnell.

You people bitch about the party losing its way all the freaking time. I do too.

It's time to put up or shut up. If we're not willing to give to people like Sean Parnell, well then we get what we deserve -- the party of Don Young instead of the party of Ronald Reagan.

$10.00 to clean house. If you can't give $10.00, stop complaining about the state of the party.

By the way, I gave $100.00. You can give more than $10.00 if you want to.

* The post was originally $5.00, but David All informs me that Slatecard gets eaten alive by the credit card processors if they go less than $10.00. If you want to give less than $10.00, mail a check to Parnell for Congress, P.O. Box 100719, Anchorage, AK 99510.

And heck, I bet you've never had an excuse to send a letter to Alaska anyway, except trying to find Santa Claus. So get out that "forever" stamp and send Sean money.

Posted at 9:53am on Mar. 17, 2008 RedState Endorses Sean Parnell (R-AK)

By The Directors

Don Young (R- Don Youngland) is embittered, corrupt, out of touch, and part of the problem in Washington. His fifteen minutes are up and the time has come to send him back to Alaska, though we know he'll be heading to K Street instead.

In the past few years, Don Young voted to force workers into an open, public ballot on the issue of unionization, he voted against reauthorization of the Patriot Act, he voted to expand government funded stem cell research, and he railed against conservatives who wanted to cut earmarks by calling the taxpayer dollars his money. Don Young is also under FBI investigation for taking bribes, illegal gratuities and other unreported gifts from an Alaskan corporation, and he has dubiously forced on the people of Florida a road they don't want all because one of his donors wanted the road.

We fully support and encourage you to support Alaska's Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell in his bid to unseat Don Young in the Republican Primary.

We commend Governor Sarah Palin for supporting her Lieutenant Governor and recognizing that the Republican Party must clean up its own house. Putting Don Young on the trash heap of history is a perfect place to start.

Posted at 12:17pm on Dec. 27, 2007 AK- Senate --- Stevens has a Primary Challenger

By gpasman

CQ Politics has a story announcing that Ted Stevens has a primary challenger. The link to the story is

http://www.cqpolitics.com/wmspage.cfm?parm1=5&docID=news-000002649504

The highlights-

David Cuddy is a wealthy real estate developer who ran against Stevens in the primary in 1996, and spent $1,000,000 in that race, and lost (obviously, if he is challenging this year). In 1996, Republicans were less likely to throw out their own, after winning control of the Senate just 2 years prior to that race.
However, now, the only way this seat is a possible win for Republicans, is if Stevens does not run. This primary candidate has spent a million in the past, and most likely will do so again. In this year, with so many Republican seats to defend, a self financing candidate is very important.
If Stevens does survive a primary, then one of the candidates the Democrats many nominate is Ray Metcalf, who founded the Alaska Republican Moderate Party. So, there is a significant chance that liberal and moderate Republicans may go to the Democrat side if Stevens is in the race, as they may feel that they would be electing a moderate Republican, instead of the usual liberal that Democrats nominate, and also making sure Stevens, with all of his ethical problems, is defeated. We do not want that, so a strong challenger to take out Stevens would be a significant help.

Now, I do not know any of the positions of Cuddy. I know there are some Redstate bloggers who are much more familiar with Alaska politics. Any information would be very helpful.
